IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROCEDURES FOR OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money-laundering activities, federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.

All new accounts verified through Chex Systems.

Follow these steps to spot suspicious activity and protect your account:

  •  Review your monthly account statements to spot any unauthorized purchases. You can also monitor your account activity online at any time at www.cahpcu.org or by calling our automated phone teller, CALL-24, at 800-522-4724. If you spot any unauthorized charges, please contact us immediately at 800-542-2247. It is important to know that Visa’s Zero Liability Policy will protect you against unauthorized purchases.1

  • Periodically review your credit reports for accuracy. You are entitled to a free credit report each year and can obtain one by visiting www.annualcreditreport.com (you will be asked to provide your social security number; this is a secure site) or by calling 877-322-8228. Or you can call any one of the three credit reporting agencies below to receive your free annual credit report.

             Equifax                          Experian                              Transunion

          800-525-6285               888-397-3742                    800-680-7289

  •  If you suspect fraud or identity theft, contact the three credit reporting agencies listed above; they can instruct you how to place a Credit Alert on your account, if necessary.

1 Visa’s Zero Liability Policy covers cards issued in the US only and does not apply to commercial credit cards, ATM transactions, or PIN transactions not processed by Visa. Cardholder must notify CAHPCU promptly of any unauthorized use. Consult CAHPCU for additional details or visit www.visa.com/security.

C.A.H.P. Credit Union is as Dedicated to Service as You Are

You’ve made a big commitment to public security. We want to honor the integrity of that commitment by helping you achieve financial security. C.A.H.P. Credit Union is dedicated to helping you realize your financial goals – setting up a budget, reducing your debt, saving for higher education, buying your first home, or planning for retirement. Our goal is to give you the knowledge you need to make sound judgments. That is why we are excited to announce a fantastic benefit of membership: BALANCE Financial Fitness Program.

Through BALANCE, you have access to free, unbiased money management information and assistance. All you have to do is make a toll-free phone call.

BALANCE counselors can answer many of your questions immediately – from how long an item stays on your credit report to whether it’s better to lease or buy a car. For more complex issues, such as debt elimination or budget development, an appointment will be scheduled – giving you the personal attention you need to meet your objectives.

If bills have gotten out of hand, your counselor may be able to arrange a Debt Management Plan. BALANCE negotiates with creditors to reduce interest and fees so you can pay your debt quickly and efficiently. As a member of CAHPCU the program’s monthly administration fee of $35 is waived.

To use this free membership program, simply call 888-456-2227.

Counselors are available Monday through Thursday, 5am to 8pm, Friday, 5am to 5pm, and Saturday, 8am to 5pm (PST) or visit the BALANCE WEBSITE for more information.

We recognize that money concerns have a serious effect on our quality of life. Now, through this partnership, you have access to the very best professional guidance – so you can achieve financial security faster than you ever thought possible.
